We would all love a holiday full of endless sunny days, but the rain does sometimes fall here in Cornwall (shhhh, don't tell anyone!). Be inspired with our rainy-day itinerary.
If you awake to raindrops on the window, don't despair. There is plenty to do. Plus, you have an added excuse to find a cosy country pub and indulge in some delicious pub grub and local ale! We share our favourite things to do on a rainy day here on the North coast of Cornwall.
8.00-10.00am - pilates and a pick-me-up
Begin your rainy day gently with a calming pilates session led by the wonderful Anna at Highcliffe. The moment you step through the doors, a sense of serenity takes over, soft music plays in the background and a soothing spa-like scent fills the air. Choose between a reformer pilates session, a low-impact workout that focuses on alignment, balance and deep stretches, or classic mat pilates for core strength and full-body toning.
After your session, retreat to the luxurious changing rooms and freshen up with Land & Water natural body care. As you return to reception, the inviting aroma of freshly brewed Cornish Origin coffee welcomes you. Take a moment to sink into a cosy sofa, coffee in hand and let the sound of the rain against the windows set the peaceful, soul-soothing tone for the day ahead.
10.00-11.30am - a yummy brunch at Fees
We don't know about you, but we are always in the mood to stop in at Fees in Rock, particularly for a Yallah coffee and a sweet treat. This local hotspot is perfect for all the family, from hearty bacon sandwiches to fruity granola bowls, or a firm favourite here in our offices, the chunky cookies! With large wooden tables, ideal for family morning catch-ups or breakfast bar window seating, perfect for the people watchers among us. Fees is a cosy, family business, a true must-visit on your next rainy morning.
11.30am-12.30pm - a mooch around the shops
Rainy days are for mooching and just around the corner from Fees is a handful of beautiful boutiques in the heart of Polzeath. With plenty of parking, you can either park on the beach (just be mindful of the tide times!), or you can park next to Ann's Cottage. The first stop on the list has to be Fusion, the home to all beachy accessories you never knew you needed. From womenswear, menswear, homeware to children's, it has a corner in the shop for all the family and they welcome your four-legged friends too.
Once you have picked up your favourites in Fusion, head over to Ocean Blue, this one is for the ladies who love soft knits and bright prints, with styling advice on hand, you sure won't leave empty-handed. For all the sea and surf lovers, Ann's Cottage has bundles to offer, from cosy Dry Robes to wetsuits, you will have everything you need to brave the weather.
1.00-3.00pm - a cosy lunch at St Kew Inn

A rainy day isn't complete without a pub lunch in our opinion, and what better setting than the picture postcard village of St Kew. Set within easy reach of our properties St Kew Inn is nestled in the heart of the village and is everything you could want from a traditional Cornish pub. With lots of little rooms to discover and a roaring fire, this is the perfect place to dry off and plan the rest of your holiday over a local tipple or two. This pub is popular with locals and visitors alike so we recommend booking as soon as you can.
3.00-4.00pm - swing by St Kew Farm Shop

Plan your route home past St Kew Farm Shop where you'll be greeted by the warming scent of freshly brewed coffee. Enjoy pottering about with a flat white in hand as you browse their collection of local produce, perfect if you want to grab some ingredients for dinner parties and family feasts. Don't forget to head over to the Greenhouse; brimming with all thing's homeware, from frilled and striped cushions to beautiful Cornish ceramics - trust us, you won't leave empty-handed.
5.00-6.00pm - brave the elements with Saunas By The Sea
There’s no better feeling than a dip in the sea and when the drizzle sets in, a pre-swim sauna makes it all the more tempting. Head down to Baby Bay and ease into the warmth of the wood-fired sauna. When you're ready, step out, embrace the elements and run to the sea’s edge for a cold water plunge. It’s invigorating, uplifting, and honestly? Nothing beats it. Use our discount code SAUNAS50 to get 10% off a sauna session at Saunas By The Sea.

Embrace the drizzle and fire up the BBQ for smoky prawns and scallops for a true Cornish experience, or opt for the classic: freshly cooked fish and chips, perfect for cosying up indoors as the rain taps on the windows.
